Our Responsibility to Children (ORC), an initiative pioneered by the Kozhikode police to guide children in conflict with law, welcomed students to the new academic year at a programme organised at the Government Model Higher Secondary School on Wednesday.
Noted Gazal singer Shahbaz Aman inaugurated the programme and distributed ‘Student Do Cards' on the occasion.
The ‘Student Do Cards' is a novel programme of the ORC implemented in all the 10 schools that come under the project.
They include Government Higher Secondary Schools in Menchanda, Kundoopparambu, Nadakkavu and Kunnamangalam besides Government Ganapath Schools in Chalappuram and Feroke, Zamorin's Higher Secondary School in Thali, BEM Higher Secondary School and JDT Islam Higher Secondary School. Students of these schools will get a card with messages that will help them in life — on how to behave on the school premises and how to guard themselves against social evils.
City Police Commissioner Anup Kuruvila John presided over the function. DYSP Shoukath Ali, ORC coordinator C. Mohammed Anas and Assistant Police Commissioner Mohanachandran were present on the occasion. An ORC Help Desk was set up at the venue to guide students.
